Skin changes with age. This does not mean you silently watch your skin turning all wrinkled and dull after a few decades of life. It is possible to maintain glow and youth of skin irrespective of age.

You need not invest in expensive skin products to do so. Just a few tips and you can be the proud owner of beautiful, ageless skin at any age.

First things first

Eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, especially those that contain Vitamin C. This vitamin lightens skin tone and keeps skin elastic. Foods that are rich in this vitamin include tomatoes, lemons, oranges, strawberries, green peas, sweet peppers, cantaloupes, and gooseberries.

Vitamin A maintains health and tautness of skin. It also helps to maintain clear skin with no hyper pigmentation. Besides, foods with beta-carotene reduce damage done by sun. Foods rich in this vitamin include tomatoes, carrots, papaya, egg yolk, and non-fat milk.

A diet containing a rainbow of fruits and vegetables, to be precise, those with a variety of deep colors like red, yellow, orange, and purple is a great anti-oxidant rich diet that can help keep ageless skin. Also, your diet must contain lots of green teas, less of alcohol, and plenty of water.

Water helps to flush out toxins from body system. This automatically clears off skin and renders it a glow. Water contains no calories. Good old plain water is the best thing your body can have. Drink up to 8 glasses (200 ml in size) of water daily for beautiful skin.

Other easy ways

Dry brush skin

This is a great way to tone up skin and fight cellulite. Brush towards the direction of heart, i.e., northwards. Use a bristled brush for the purpose and brush on dry skin before taking a shower. This activity improves blood and lymph circulation and sloughs off dead skin cells. After a shower, moisturize skin.

Give yourselves a sauna bath

It helps your skin sweat. Skin is one of the excretory organs of the body that helps to remove toxins. It does so by sweating. So, instead of spraying your body with lots of deodorants to prevent sweating, let your skin sweat through sauna. This will freshen it up better than your deo.

Slather your skin with pure oils

It helps to invest a little money and buy 100 per cent pure oils of coconut, argan, jojoba, or Shea butter. Jojoba oil is terrific for oily skin.

Drink green juice

This is a multi vitamin powerhouse. The greens produce an alkaline effect on the body and help in detoxification. Cucumber is a natural hydrator and great for skin. Drink it first thing in the morning daily for a month and see how your skin glows!

Eat good fat

Want dewy, plump, and wrinkle-free skin? Eat chia seeds, avocados, almonds, walnuts, and more. Nuts and seeds contain fat that is good for the body and keep skin youthful. Use coconut oil. Banish processed oils.

Cut down on white sugar

If you can banish it completely, great! Sugar is toxic. Research says that it leads to a series of chronic diseases. It causes inflammation in the body. This makes you age quicker. It can cause wrinkles and acne on skin. Satiate your sweet tooth with fruits and pure honey.

There is nothing like exercise

Exercise for at least 30 minutes daily for eternally beautiful skin. The bonus you get from exercise is overall good health and fitness. Exercise improves blood circulation throughout skin of the body. This gives it a natural glow. You need no artificial skin products to bring glow to skin.

Just wake up early. Go out and have a run or walk. Do some stretches. Do yoga. If you have no time for various yoga asanas or a complete workout session, just perform a few rounds of Sun Salutation or Surya Namaskar and watch your skin feel and look blissful.

Exercise, say experts, helps to eliminate cellular debris and free radicals from the body. So, in a way, exercise produces a cleansing effect on the body, not mentioning the rejuvenation it brings to mind and body.

Pilates, squats, crunches, lunges, push-ups, sit-ups, various yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation, aerobics, and more – there is a whole lot to choose from. Consult a doctor or a fitness trainer, if you are not sure of what suits your body type and health status. For yoga, please train from a certified yoga practitioner.

Those who hate exercises can choose other forms of physical activities like cycling, swimming, dancing, jogging, climbing up and down stairs, jumping rope, trekking, and others. The idea is to stay active. Simple activities like gardening, doing household work, mowing the lawn, running errands, and walking go a long way in keeping your mind and body fit.

When you are fit it shows on your skin. Whether you are physically ill or mentally stressed out your skin is the first one to show it. Skin is a great reflector of your moods and whatever is happening inside your body. That’s why experts emphasize on overall physical and emotional wellbeing for achieving beautiful skin.

Be the sleeping beauty

Sleep-deprived people can never enjoy beautiful skin. How can you, for you don’t let your skin repair itself at night. Skin cells regenerate while you sleep at night. If you stay awake, this won’t happen. As a consequence, you get dull, worn out skin.

Lack of sleep, says research, dilates blood vessels. This forms dark circles. Inadequate night sleep disrupts vital body functions. You need 6-8 hours of sound sleep each night to flaunt beautiful, ageless skin, say dermatologists.

However, please do not oversleep. This, too, is detrimental, as it can lead to cell breakdown. Moreover, regular oversleeping is an indication that something is not right with you physically or mentally. Check with your doctor, if you tend to sleep for more than 9 or 10 hours daily.
